Approach
Keep it simple. Then keep it that way.
Reitigh was founded on a blunt idea: most systems fail from accumulation, not from a lack of ideas. We design and deliver so each increment makes the next one easier.
The firm
Built in 2013. Informed by much longer.
Kyle Cunningham has lived and worked in San Diego since the 1980s, inside small companies, mid-size firms, and large enterprises. Reitigh, Inc. was created in 2013 to practice systems work with a shorter distance between design and delivery.
That distinction matters. The firm is twelve-plus years old. The judgment behind it was formed over a full career of watching programs add moving parts until nobody could operate them.
We still use agile methods — not as ceremony, but as a way to put points on the board. Architecture is written so a builder can follow it. Success is an increment that survives contact with production.
Principles
How decisions get made here
- Simple is a design goalComplexity is allowed only when it earns its keep. If a part cannot be explained, it is not ready to ship.
- Increments over gesturesA finished slice beats a comprehensive plan that never lands. Base runners first.
- Architecture you can holdDiagrams and decisions are written for the people who will implement and operate them.
- Leave the system operableWe optimize for a client team that can run without us, not for a retainer that requires us.
- Say the constraint out loudBudget, legacy, politics, time. Pretending they are not there is how programs get theatrical.
“You can’t hit a grand slam with no one on base.”
